Formation of Iguana, Inc.

07APR97 -- Iguana is a new corporation founded to provide application integration tools for transportation managers and planners. Iguana was started by Ed Granzow; one of the founders and a former principal of The Urban Analysis Group. Iguana is dedicated to providing products which will further the use of both new and already existing software applications in a user- friendly open systems environment. To this end, products have been or are currently being developed which will provide:

A state of the technology desktop environment to manage and launch legacy applications;
Data interchange tools to promote better integration between GIS based and related data models and transportation management/planning applications;
A comprehensive specification for network objects which can be used to develop required interfaces for new object oriented applications such as a general network viewer; and
Advancement in adapting existing software and applications to capture the benefits of the Internet and the World Wide Web.

Iguana is an Internet based company utilizing virtual space both to manage and coordinate internal company activities and to support users. In this spirit, Iguana views itself as a participant in an ongoing dialogue with its clients and contractors to develop an effective means to meet the current and foreseeable needs of the industry.

A major initiative to reinforce this perspective is the Iguana Beta Consortium Program. A number of agencies will be invited to join in the Beta Consortium Program. Membership will entitle them to early releases of new Iguana products, unlimited priority technical support and, perhaps most importantly, a significant voice in changes and refinements to made to any products prior to final release.

Iguana looks forward to being a useful part of the industry’s ongoing challenge of responding to both changing organizational needs and adoption of new technology. We hope to contribute our tools and capabilities to agencies which must find ways to make effective use of these new developments. We look forward to working with you and to hearing your comments and suggestions regarding our planned direction.
